At Bee-Longing, we deeply understand the emotional impact of the dehumanising practice of using bin bags to move children in the care system. It's a situation that tugs at our hearts, with personal experience of the care system in our own lives, we are committed to making a positive change. We also have a unique training school for professionals and carers to help them understand the challenges young people face. Furthermore, we are excited to announce a one-of-a-kind support program for care leavers.

As a new CIC, our mission is simple yet powerful: to put an end to the heart-wrenching practice of "binbagging" looked after children. Bin bagging is the shocking and demeaning practice of moving children between placements with their belongings stuffed into bin bags, rather than suitable luggage. With the generous support of the public, we’ve already collected over 200 cases, each one representing a young person who has been given the dignity and respect they deserve during an already challenging time. Every donation brings us one step closer to ensuring that no child in care has to experience the indignity of bin bagging again. Join us in making a meaningful difference—because every child deserves more than a bin bag.

Our training school and support groups are dedicated to equipping professionals with the tools and knowledge to effectively support children in care (CLA) and care leavers. We offer specialised training programmes for care support staff, teachers, police officers, and other professionals in contact with CLA, focusing on trauma-informed practices and the unique challenges these young people face. Our curriculum includes the PACE Model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy) to foster trauma-sensitive relationship-building, alongside comprehensive content on the UK care system to deepen understanding. We also provide critical training on addressing emotional and behavioural challenges, including self-harm, suicidal ideation, and neurodiversity, with a focus on Autism and ADHD. Additionally, our programmes cover strategies to reduce school exclusions, improve educational achievement, and support the transition to adulthood for care leavers, reducing the risk of criminality and reoffending. By integrating these elements, our goal is to create a collaborative, informed support network that empowers professionals to make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.

Our workshops and support groups are designed to provide crucial assistance for parents navigating the challenges faced by their children, particularly those at risk of entering the care system. With over 400,000 children in the UK classified as ‘Children in Need’, the need for accessible support has never been greater. Many parents are struggling with factors such as abuse, neglect, domestic violence, substance abuse, family breakdowns, poverty, and homelessness, but very little support is available to help them improve these situations. Our workshops offer expert guidance on navigating issues like mental health, self-harm, and rising anxiety and depression, with a focus on practical, supportive solutions. We address the gaps in underfunded mental health services and school-based support, particularly in rural and lower-income areas. Our sessions also cover the increasing behavioural challenges parents face, including criminality, social media influences, substance abuse, and low academic motivation. For those with teenagers, we offer a unique support group, “Teenagers – It wasn’t like that in my day!”, where both parents and teens can attend to foster mutual understanding. Additionally, we provide vital information on managing self-harm, suicidal ideation, autism, ADHD, and how to build strong relationships, meet your child’s needs, and set healthy boundaries. Our open support groups offer live support, advice, and signposting to other local services, creating a supportive network for parents and caregivers facing these often-overwhelming challenges.
Our Care Leavers Support Program is dedicated to tackling a national crisis—care leavers feeling abandoned and unsupported when they transition out of the care system. We aim to bridge this gap by providing practical support, mentorship, and guidance to young people both before and after they leave care. Our service is powered by passion
Our Care Leavers Support Program is dedicated to tackling a national crisis—care leavers feeling abandoned and unsupported when they transition out of the care system. We aim to bridge this gap by providing practical support, mentorship, and guidance to young people both before and after they leave care. Our service is powered by passionate volunteers who are committed to making a difference. In the future, we will expand the program to offer employment opportunities to care-experienced young people, allowing them to undergo training and become mentors themselves. By empowering the very people who have lived through the system, we’re creating a sustainable cycle of support that helps care leavers thrive, not just survive. Join us in changing the future for care leavers—because everyone deserves a mentor who truly understands their journey.
